Apple Press Conference Word of breaking that Apple is calling a special press conference this coming Friday to discuss the iPhone 4. Yes, you can probably guess what this is about.The Loop has the Apple blog (basically none) details now - which will in California on Friday morning and on the iPhone 4. A small group get invited press reported today. Update: We just received a phone call, we'll be there at 10:00 PT on Friday to cover it live.
The big question that everyone must be wondering is if Apple will announce a recall of four iPhone based on the antenna problem - which is very real. We still believe that it is not enough. That said, very, very, very seldom (actually, I think never happened) that Apple will call a special press conference at the last second. If they do not have something really big to say, they will be far more likely to release a problem.
But with all the talk and speculation flying around out there, maybe Apple (and CEO Steve Jobs in particular) people just want to sit down to talk about these issues. Apple has been criticized because it basically says nothing about the problems outside the quotes Jobs that users must buy a case or hold a different phone.
Apple released the first beta version of IOS software 4.1 today. As our sister site MobileCrunch noted, it does not fix the antenna problem. Instead, it simply did what Apple said it would do: make the signal strength indicator more accurate.
